Kasia Novak, MA, LMFT

“Therapeutic alliance and connection are essential for couples therapy to be successful. My strengths lie in joining with couples to guide them to hope, reconnection, and renewed understanding. I like to jump into the spaces between partners and explore things from that mutual vantage point. I’m continually amazed and humbled by people’s capacity to grow when given the right support, tools, and incentives.”

Kasia received her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Springfield College and has worked extensively in community mental health. Among her peers, she’s the go-to person for everything from complex family dynamics to training and supervising colleagues on family therapy’s “tough stuff.” She brings heart, humanity, and humor to the therapy couch, with an eclectic style grounded in research-based techniques.

Services Offered: Kasia specializes in both couples and family therapy. She provides therapy in English and Polish.

Ask me about: Poland, anything Polish. My family. Racquet sports (I keep four racquets in my car).

Ever since I was young, I’ve been: Curious about people and human behavior. Why do they do that? Why isn’t it that way in my family? Having Polish immigrant parents who always did things so differently than my American friends’ parents made me wonder.

Favorite Quote: “Composing a life involves a continual reimagining of the future and reinterpretation of the past to give meaning to the present.” Catherine Bateson

Favorite kind of couples: The ones who show up. The ones who are initially skeptical about being vulnerable and then sign onto the risk of vulnerability and realize it’s the holy grail for healthy couples functioning.
