John Gardner

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

John has been working with couples, families, adults and children for more than 30 years. He is the Senior Clinician at NCCT, having joined us when we first opened in August of 2010. A graduate of the School of Family Studies at the University of Connecticut, he has also received advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. His sub-specialties include couples that are recovering from infidelity, adoption and marathon therapy. John values the therapeutic relationship with each partner in the room. He seeks to help each partner feel safe and supported as they embark on the difficult and rewarding journey toward healing and renewed strength. John sees the therapy process as an experience of discovery. "What's really going on between us? How can this change to make us better, more skillful?" As couples discover the answers to these questions, they can grow and prosper.

John has been married for more than 30 years.  With his wife he has helped raise six kids (two biological, four adopted) and is now enjoying his four grandchildren, as well as his dog, Tilly and his cat, Macy.
