Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate, Antioch University New England

“I have deep confidence in human beings’ potential to grow, transform, and be brave. These qualities are why we can self-reflect and work towards creating a more compassionate relationship between ourselves and others. I believe that the places we are most frightened of in ourselves often have the most to teach us. Facing our vulnerability becomes an invitation to uncover our greatest potential. I do not shy away from the uncomfortable, the raw, or the scariest moments/places with my couples. I want to be present with them until we find a way forward —not based on avoidance, fear, or unconscious habit; but from a state of awareness and choice.”

Lucy practices systemic therapy, examining how socio-cultural dynamics and inequities influence our relationships. In her work with couples, she utilizes evidence-based and experiential models such as Gottman, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and solution-focused therapies. As a certified mindfulness teacher (c-MTP), Lucy emphasizes working in the present moment. She focuses on the relationship between our mind and body as a source of healing and an invitation to return to an inherent fullness of experience. She uses a bottom-up approach in working with trauma, focusing on nervous system regulation and stress resolution. Lucy imbues her work from a place of humor, warmth, and curiosity. Her strength lies in her ability to connect with people where they are and skillfully steer them toward the places where growth and connection are most possible.

Ask me about: Dogs, Dharma, and music.

Ever since I was young, I’ve been: Singing loudly. Finding solace in nature.

Favorite quote: “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” —James Baldwin

Favorite kind of couples: I find working with all types of couples incredibly meaningful and energizing. I especially enjoy working with those who have a desire to change, learn, and grow.
